Axeon is Europe’s largest independent provider of lithium-ion battery systems for hybrid and electric vehicles (EVs and HEVs).

Battery technology is playing a major role in product development across all sectors of the automotive industry with the continual drive to reduce vehicle emissions.   Axeon is at the forefront of this sector and continues to provide its unrivalled expertise in battery technology to manufacturers and suppliers throughout the industry.

Axeon currently produces batteries in production volume for one of the UK's leading electric vehicle suppliers, Allied Vehicles.  A specially designed battery system – the largest ever for a passenger car – produced by Axeon is powering 102EX, the Rolls-Royce Phantom Experimental Electric.

Our expertise has been sought at the highest levels within the industry and within government, through our position on the UK Automotive Technology Council.
We are heavily involved in developing cutting-edge technology.  Our involvement in programmes funded through the Technology Strategy Board (TSB) has seen us working in consortia with major manufacturers such as Jaguar Land Rover, as well as with leading industry suppliers such as Ricardo.

In addition to volume production, we have designed, produced and delivered several prototype lithium-ion batteries for a very diverse range of hybrid and electric vehicles, from a high-performance all-electric sports car based on a Porsche 911 for Ruf GmbH in Germany, to hybrid electric heavy plant vehicles in Scandinavia.

Key to the outstanding performance, reliability, consistency and safety of these Lithium-ion batteries is an effective Battery Management System (BMS).  As well as monitoring state of charge, managing cell optimisation and ensuring safety, Axeon’s BMS is designed to fully integrate and communicate with the vehicle CAN bus for optimal vehicle performance over many miles and a warranted number of charge-discharge cycles.

We achieve commercially viable solutions for our customers, from selecting the best Lithium-ion cell manufacturers globally, working with customers and partners through design concept, pre-production prototypes to manufacturing, and providing uniquely experienced technical advice, support and after-sales service. 

Axeon, which is independent of cell suppliers, works with a wide range of Lithium cell chemistries, optimising each Battery System design to the requirements of our customers’ application.
