Quality and testing
Axeon’s design and manufacturing system is set up to meet the high reliability criteria of automotive companies. Axeon is familiar with the quality needs and standards of its OEM customers by whom it has also been audited and approved.
- ISO 9001:2008 accredited at our UK and European sites
- Working towards TS16949 certification
- Full component and process traceability using individual part barcodes and databases
We have already adopted several key manufacturing quality standards, including:
- APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning)

- PPAP (Production Part Approval Process)
- PDP (Product Development Plan)
- Design and Process FMEA (Failure Mode & Effects Analysis)
- DOE (Design of Experiments)
- SPC (statistical process control)
- Gauge R+R (repeatability and reproducibility)
For high volume manufacturing we use lean techniques, including 5S, Kaizen and one-piece flow.
These processes ensure that we meet the standards expected by our mainstream OEM customers. We have received several successful audits from automotive and power tool OEMs.
All cells are bar-coded to ensure full traceability. Cells are subject to extensive cell testing on arrival, which includes capacity, voltage and impedance testing. Finished automotive battery systems receive range tests as well as full inspection and electrical checks.
Our quality policy is to achieve customer satisfaction by providing competitive products and solutions on time, building quality into all our operations relating to the design and manufacture of custom power solutions and battery management systems including embedded software and continually reviewing and improving the effectiveness of our Quality Management System.
